Oregon Hunting Retriever Club

Oregon Hunting Retriever Club is host for the largest double Hunt Test in the pacific northwest.  Each Memorial Day weekend, the Club provides unique test grounds and  AKC Licensed Judges from across the country for a great weekend of hunt tests. It is held at Sauvie Island East Unit under the rules and regulations of the AKC Hunt Test Program. See our OHRC Retriever Club Events.

OHRC also hosts several picnic trials and singles events in the spring and summer. They give you and your dog a chance to  practice performing in a hunt test, to brush up on their retriever skills for duck hunting or introduce your new puppy to birds. It is a great opportunity to learn  from the professional dog trainers, meet other dog enthusiasts and share training tips.  

OHRC club members meet on a regular basis to plan club activities.  Besides field days with dogs, the club puts on two social functions a year.  The Members Banquet, at the first of the year and an outdoor BBQ Picnic and Fund- raising Raffle, the Saturday of the Memorial  Day Weekend Hunt Tests (rain or shine).

Club members also get together to help each other train their dogs and practice their  handling skills.  Many members will throw bumpers or birds for you and your retriever if you return the favor.  

The Club always needs volunteers for helping with picnic trial and hunt test set-up.  You can enjoy watching the dogs retrieve the bird and  help in the process by being a gunner, thrower,  runner, etc.  All for the love of hunting dogs!
